The Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber of Commerce supports the tourism industry in Flagler County, which is responsible for nearly 1-out-of-every-5 jobs in the county. Tourism is also one of the reasons Florida does not have a state income tax (because visitors spend money, significantly filling tax coffers).
SB 778, sponsored by Sen. Hooper (R-Clearwater), pictured above, eliminates the language that would lead the closing, or “sunset,” of VISIT FLORIDA in 2023, the tourism development agency for the state. The bill will also allow for VISIT FLORIDA to roll over any unspent funds to the next fiscal year, leading to the agency to better use funding it’s provided by the state, instead of spending on items it may not necessarily need.
