Flagler County families with students in the school system received a call from Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt today, which stated Flagler Schools will be closed from Wednesday, September 28 to Friday, September 30, 2022 due to Hurricane Ian. Below is text from the email sent out by Flagler Schools:
Good morning, Flagler Schools parents. This is Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt.
I want to inform you that all schools will be closed Wednesday, September 28th, and will reopen no earlier than Monday, October 3rd. This is due to the impending effects of Hurricane Ian, a dangerous storm that is expected to come through our area at the end of the week.
I urge all of you to make preparations for yourself and your family. Please listen to all warnings from our local emergency preparedness officials, and if you are told to evacuate, do just that.
A couple of our schools will be used as shelters of last resort. These are meant for people who may not be able to leave the area. If you can evacuate to other areas, please take the opportunity to do that before conditions deteriorate.
Please, stay safe and listen to our emergency officials.
