The Chamber applauds the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) today, which unanimously approved a solar farm to be built on the Flagler/Putnam county border. The Chamber has advocated for the approval of the FPL/FRP (Florida Renewable Partners) solar project, which will include hundreds of thousands of solar panels that will help diversify Florida’s energy future.
The Chamber followed this project from start-to-finish, and advocated for passage of the solar project at the Technical Review Committee, Planning and Development Board and the Board of County Commissioners. Today’s approval brings to a close the approval process of the first solar farm in Flagler County.
The reason why solar is important to Florida is because our population is expanding rapidly, which increases the amount of power we need to service new residents. Solar is one way to add additional power generation capacity to our electrical grid.
